Children - our priority!
For thousands of years the Catholic Church has established high academic standards.
We are proud to continue this mission by providing high standards for our students. Needless to say, St. Joseph has a strong academic program.
To that end, we are committed to providing high-quality instruction through our academic, religion and co-curricular programs. We are deeply proud, first and foremost, to be a Catholic school. This faith-centered education is at the heart of all that we do. Fostering a love for God, self and others is of utmost importance at St. Joseph. Daily religion instruction, sacramental preparation and weekly Mass attendance are just some of the religious aspects that permeate our program.
We take seriously our duty and responsibility to make respectful students, who in turn, will make respectful adults.
Just as our teachers bring Christ to our students, we expect that once they are older, our students will bring Christ to others in their own unique ways.
Yet, beyond our religion instruction, the St. Joseph Academic program includes: Language Arts, Mathematics, Reading (Accelerated Reader, Journeys and SuperKids), Social Studies, Science, Computers, Spanish, Physical Education, Liturgical Music and Art.
Our curriculum is aligned with the National Common Core standards. We were most recently certified by the State of Illinois and Archdiocese of Chicago in 2003.
The greatest measure of our school’s academic effectiveness is the yearly Terra Nova tests that students in grades 2-7 take every March. Our students perform well above the national average. This is evidenced through the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff. Our students leave our school with the reading, mathematics, reasoning and study skills necessary to help them in high school and beyond.
Finally, our eighth graders do very well on the high school entrance exam with many of them receiving scholarships to their respective high schools. Our graduates are accepted at schools such as St. Laurence, St. Joseph, Queen of Peace, De La Salle, Fenwick and Mount Assisi to name a few.
St. Joseph has a comprehensive Pre-School program for 3 year-olds and 4 year-olds.
